Wilderness First Aid Course

Wilderness and urban disaster environments create special situations not usually encountered in normal urban or suburban environments. ASHI’s Wilderness First Aid, covers wilderness first aid from a basic understanding of emergency response in an outdoor setting to specific techniques and considerations for a wide range of incident scenarios.  This comprehensive course meets the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid curriculum and guidelines.

    Course Content Includes:

    • Preparation and Assessment
    • Preventing and Caring for Injuries
    • Environmental Hazards
    • Biological Hazards
    • Medical Emergencies

    Intended Audience

    • Individuals and groups planning for extended remote excursions
    • Individuals and groups planning for urban disasters

     

    Prerequisites

    None (CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certification strongly recommended)

     

    Successful Completion (Certification)*

    Written Evaluation:

    Recommended

    Performance Evaluation:

    Students must perform required skills competently without assistance.

    *Successful completion is based on achievement of the core learning objectives rather than a prescribed instruction time.

    Recognized certification period:  2 years

    Course Duration:16-18 hours

    The course will be held over a two-day period.

    We require registration and payment by September 12th

    Time:  8:00 AM -- 6:00 PM Saturday, and

                9:00 AM -- 5:00 PM Sunday
